▶ Lyme Disease a Primer - YouTube
Lyme disease is an increasingly common condition that can have devastating consequences. It is the most prevalent tick-borne disease in the United States, with a higher incidence than AIDS, West Nile Virus, and Avian Flu combined. Annual new infection rates have just been upwardly revised to over 300,000 cases. Caused by B. Burgdorferi, a bacterium of the spirochete class, Lyme disease is a zoonotic, vector-borne disease transmitted by theIxodes scapularis, also known as the black-legged deer tick.
In this webinar, Dr. Berndtson will review Lyme disease epidemiology, prevention, early detection, and clinical diagnosis. Dr. Berndtson will also discuss the evidence for immune evasion and persistent infection in Lyme disease and review some of the added complexities of Lyme disease. Case studies will illustrate his clinical approach to Lyme disease, including his incorporation of the iSpot Lyme™ test.
